We’re supporting MS Awareness Week

Christchurch Group are proud to be supporting MS Awareness Week 2018, an annual campaign run by the Multiple Sclerosis Trust, from 23-29 April.

MS Awareness Weekis an opportunity to come together to help support people living with the long-lasting disease. The theme for 2018 is ‘Be Bold in Blue’, a new project designed to help young people affected by MS.

There are more than 100,000 people living with MS in the UK. It is not infectious or contagious so you can’t pass it onto other people, but everyone’s MS is different so no two people will have the same range and severity of symptoms, even if they are closely related.

MS stands for multiple sclerosis, a neurological condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. (The central nervous system).

‘Sclerosis’ means scarring or hardening of tiny patches of tissue. ‘Multiple’ is added because this happens at more than one place in the brain and/or spinal cord. MS is not a terminal condition but it is one that you will live with for the rest of your life.

At Christchurch Group, we offer long-term support to those individuals with progressive neurological conditions such as MS. We understand that being diagnosed with the long-term condition can put a strain on you, your family and friends.

We are committed to supporting programs as well as research that help to deliver inspiration, information and provide tools that will enable people living with MS to have more control in managing their disease.
