Christchurch Group invited to share best practice at Westminster industry event

The recent achievements of a specialist neurological rehabilitation service were highlighted when two senior managers were invited to speak at a Westminster briefing event.

One of Christchurch Group’s rehabilitation centres in Lincolnshire was recently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), placing it in the top 1% of healthcare services in the UK.

The Laurels, which opened in 2014, provides specialist community-based transitional rehabilitation and supports adults with neurological conditions resulting from injury, illness or diseases. Christchurch Group’s Chief Executive Officer Richard McKenzie and Sue Houston, Registered Manager of The Laurels, both featured as keynote speakers at the Westminster Briefing event, which took place on Thursday, January 25.

Richard McKenzie, said: “We were delighted to talk to the audience of care managers and adult social care workers to discuss our recent achievement. We also talked about how we have embedded an open culture across our organisation to encourage openness and innovation. We are very proud of the fact that The Laurels has been awarded ‘Outstanding’ status and that we deliver life-changing, evidence based outcomes for adults with neurological conditions.”

The Westminster Briefing focused on The Care Quality Commission’s new updated assessment framework for community and residential adult care services, which comes into effect this winter and highlighted best practice from around the country.
