Park House Neurological Rehabilitation Centre provides specialist community-based transitional rehabilitation in Bedford.
Opened in 2011, the centre is located next to Bedford Park in the centre of the town, with easy access to many local amenities as well as occupational and education resources, social and leisure activities. There is a volunteer centre, Bedford College, gym, leisure centre with a swimming pool, local shops and the library all close by. Park House is also just five minutes walk from the local GP practice and fifteen minutes walk to Headway Bedford.
The range of accommodation includes eight single, en-suite rooms and four transitional living bedsits. The ground floor rooms are wheelchair accessible with large bathrooms. There is a garden which residents can help to maintain, and a training kitchen.
Dr Fahim Anwar is the Lead Consultant to Park House in Bedford. The centre is supported by an interdisciplinary team of rehabilitation medicine consultants, neurologists, a neuropsychiatrist, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. Support is also provided by experienced rehabilitation and therapy assistants.
The Christchurch Rehabilitation Programme aims to maximise independence and recovery, equipping residents with the skills to return home or to a supported environment, achieving rehabilitation goals that promote re-enablement and enhance quality of life. The team at Park House work together to develop person-centred rehabilitation care plans that aim to maximise the individual’s independence and recovery.
