Staff and residents at The Laurels Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Lincoln celebrated the Queen’s 90th Birthday with a royal garden party on Friday 17 June.
Centre manager, Sue Houston said “The staff worked really hard with our residents to make the garden fit for the Queen! We enjoyed a lovely day in the sunshine. Residents planted different colourful flowers with the red, white and blue theme. Residents, their families and staff all contributed to the afternoon tea with celebration cakes, cupcakes, strawberry meringues and more.”
Resident Amanda Mackley said, “The Garden party was brilliant.”
Staff, residents, friends and family dressed up in their finest clothes to enjoy the garden party on a thankfully dry and sunny afternoon. There was even a life-size cardboard cut out Queen’s Guard in full-dress uniform of red tunic and bearskins hats, which was very popular for the photographs. Residents decorated the entire unit with Union Jacks, Royal memorabilia and the finest china teacups – fit for a Queen!
Happy Birthday, Ma’am!
