Nicky John

Group Clinical Governance Manager
Nicky attended university in York where she achieved BA Honours in Sport and Psychology. After this she spent around 4 years living and travelling around New Zealand and Australia. This involved working in a variety of industries from retail to tourism to even fighting off the snakes and spiders on a Banana farm in Queensland. This involved supporting people who displayed varying levels of challenging behaviour. Nicky completed the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training for which she would often assist in delivering. After around 3 years as an RSW Nicky began to get more involved in the behind the scenes processes. This started with developing and updating the archiving and information governance processes. She then took on the post of Governance Administrator which involved coordinating various areas such as staff training, supervisions, clinical registrations and audits. After 3 years in this post Nicky felt she had gone as far as she could go within the service and was ready for a new challenge. Nicky joined Christchurch Group in July 2017 where she took on the role of Training Compliance Manager. In her first year she implemented several new systems regarding training and has helped improve compliance throughout the group. In December 2017 she completed training to become a qualified Maybo instructor which she has been delivering to staff ever since. She has recently taken on the role of Clinical Governance Manager where she still leads on training however she will also be involved in improving systems and processes in other areas. Her main focus at the moment is reviewing all audits, updating policies and beginning to take the lead on Safeguarding and Infection Prevention Control. When she’s not at work Nicky regularly plays tennis for her local club, and enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking and generally being in the great outdoors.
