Bilal Sheikh

Bilal has worked in neuro-rehabilitation for 4 years, after qualifying as a physiotherapist in July 2011. He is a member of HCPC, CSP, ACPIN (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology) and ATACP (Aquatic Therapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists).

Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, Bilal worked in the health and fitness and education sector for Birmingham City Council, instructing health related exercise to children, adult fitness instruction, football coaching, coaching disabled performers, and coaching children including youth offenders, as well as working on behaviour and educational attainment in schools.

His physiotherapy career includes working for the Royal Star and Garter homes for ex-service men and women focusing on dementia and elderly care and working for Focus Birmingham, a multi disability day centre including hydrotherapy clinic sports, msk and neuro outpatients. He has also assisted in the development and set up of a neurological rehabilitation service in the North East up to initial CQC registration for Badby Park Ltd/ Elysium Neurological Dec 2016- July 2017.

His areas of clinical interest are: aquatic physiotherapy in neurological conditions; service and venue development including hydrotherapy pools; neuro splinting; PDOC; spinal cord injury (c5 and below); physiotherapy education; development and the application of 3d movement in skill acquisition and neuro plasticity and the use of technology in rehabilitation.

Bilal's specialisms include: complex care management; rehabilitation planning for established neurological deficit; development of functional exercise and postural management.
